Nigella TOTALLY Bites!
Why is she so fat?
Why do people think she's hott?
And why can't she speak clearly?
My twelve year-old sister would like to know. Within 5 minutes of watching, my sister checked the channel menu to see if anything better was on. She also couldn't stop pointing out that Nigella is pudgy.
UPDATE: Why do people think having kids and being near 50 is an excuse to be round in the middle? You can blame age and kids on having saggy boobs, but if you're going to be famed as being the hottest chef on tv, wouldn't you learn to hide parts that would make you look like Paula Dean? Plus, why haven't the producers figured out she slurs her speech too much to be understood by an American audience. If the poor woman spoke clearly my sister wouldn't have spent the entire time finding everything else about her a flaw.

umm, she may be in left-field as far as her dishes are concerned, but for someone reaching near 50...with 2 children...she looks fine to me.
I know people who have less pudge and had more children than that ... no excuse.
"No excuse?"
It's like you're saying it's a bad thing that she has some meat on her bones, and it needs to be justified. She doesn't need an excuse to look the way she does, and she is in fact quite attractive as she is.
Not everyone can be thin, or even cares to be.
I'm not saying she has to be anorexic ... I'm just saying there was soooo much hype about her being the hottest thing ... meanwhile she doesn't look any hotter than Rachel Ray. She has a pretty face, and has aged well in that regard ... but her hyped up reputation didn't make her into a better role model to my sister. My sister was expecting someone drop-dead gorgeous, but was disappointed that there was nothing redeeming about Nigella's show other than she has great hair and breasts. The producers seem to have also overlooked the fact that Nigella doesn't speak clearly enough for an American audience.
yeah, i couldn't get a strawberries wild or caribbean passion. they said i had to get one of those all-fruit ones.
Right - it just seemed like you were criticizing her weight. Being a total pudgemeister myself, I guess it touched a nerve. Regardless of age, or how many kids you've had, or whatever, the weight part shouldn't matter to anyone but yourself. It just sounded a bit judgmental, and judgment didn't really seem necessary in this case. It sounded like you were annoyed by something that really, is only her business.
I never said she was super-hot, I said she was attractive. Although I know quite a few men who would say the former. Strange, actually, when you think of what really sells these days.
Anyway, hopefully I haven't offended!
I'm not offended at all, avidevi. I was just trying to defend my baby sister's rationale. Being that she's a pudgy lil meatball herself, it was upsetting to her that she couldn't find redemption is watching Nigella and finding a role model in her. My sister is very intent on becoming a chef, so she feels the need to know that every female chef on the tv isn't some large elder woman who cooks fatty foods; she's really self-conscious about her weight [at 12 yrs], and needs all the reassurance that being a chef doesn't cement the image of becoming increasingly fat.
She was also dismayed that Nigella's chest seemed to be the focal point of every shot. I feel that's the reason why so many guys label her as "the hot one on FoodNetwork".
